Chap. 319.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 19 of an act entitled an
act to raise revenue for the support of the government and public free
schools, and to pay the interest on the public debt, and to provide a
special tax for pensions as authorized by section 189 of the Constitution,
approved April 16, 1903, as heretofore amended. {H B 478]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion nineteen of an act entitled an act to raise revenue for the support
of the government and public free schools, and to pay the interest on
the public debt, and to provide a special tax for pensions, as author-
ized by section one hundred and eighty-nine of the Constitution, ap-
proved April sixteenth, nineteen hundred and three, as heretofore
amended, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Sec. 19. Each bank, banking association, trust and security com-
pany on or before the first day of June in each year shall pay into the
State treasury the State taxes assessed against its stockholders; and
shall pay to the treasurer of the several counties, cities and towns,
respectively, the local taxes assessed against its stockholders.
As the payment of State and local taxes on shares of bank
stock assessed for the year nineteen hundred and twenty must be paid
on or before the first of June, nineteen hundred and twenty, an
emergency is declared to exist and this act shall be in force from
its passage.
