1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be unlawful to take, kill, or capture fish in the wafers of Notto-
way river and its tributaries in Southampton county by means of
seines, fish traps, or fish slides; and it shall be unlawful to take, kill,
or capture fish in said waters by means of fykes, except from Sep-
tember first to May first of each year.
2. This act shall not apply to the capture of minnows by means
of a minnow net, when minnows are to be used as a bait, nor to the
hauling of shad seines, or the use of shad dip nets, in the waters of
the Noftoway river and its tributaries in the county of Southampton,
during the months of February, March, April, May and June.
3. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and be fined not more than twenty-five dol-
lars.
4. All acts or parts of acts in so far as they may affect Southamp-
ton county inconsistent with this act are hereby repealed.
