Chap. 270.—An ACT to authorize the exchange and conveyance of a lot not
exceeding eleven acres of land, part of State penitentiary. farm. [H B 179]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of directors of the penitentiary is authorized to exchange a lot
not exceeding eleven acres of land, part of the State farm in Gooch-
land county, situated upon the boundary of said farm, for a lot of
not less than eleven acres adjoining same farm, provided such board
shall be satisfied that such lot of land is not an essential part of said
farm, and that the exchange which can be obtained for said lot will
be advantageous to the State.
No such exchange shall be valid or final until and unless it shall
be approved by the governor.
Upon the approval of such exchange by the governor, the president
of the board of directors of the penitentiary is empowered to convey
said lot of land by deed with special warranty of title.
An emergency existing, this bill shall take effect from its passage.
