Chap. 237.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4549 of the Code of Vir-

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
forty-five hundred and forty-nine of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Sec. 4549. Publishing, selling, exhibiting, distributing, et cetera,
obscene books, motion pictures, et cetera; how punished.—If any per-
son import, print, exhibit, publish, sell, lease, use, or distribute any
books or other things containing obscene language, or any print, pic-
ture, motion picture film, figure or description manifestly tending to
corrupt the morals of youth; or introduce into any family or place of
education, or buy or have in his possession any such article for the
purpose of sale, exhibition, or circulation, or with intent to introduce
it into any family or place of education, he shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor.
