Chap. 438.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4801 of the Code of Vir-
ginia. [H B 44]

' 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion forty-eight hundred and one of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Sec. 4801. Their authority and jurisdiction; what evidence of
their office—The jurisdiction and authority of said police shall ex-
tend no further than the limits of the county in which they are
appointed, and a cony of the order of appointment made by the court,
attested by the clerk of such court, shall in all cases be received as
evidence of their official character. Provided, that the authority of
said police shall extend throughout the State, when actually in pur-
suit of persons accused of crime, and when acting under authority
of a duly executed warrant for the arrest of persons accused of com-
mitting crime.
