Chap. 188.—An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of
Franklin county to erect and maintain toll gates on the improved roads of
said county. [H B 371]
Approved March 15, 1922.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Franklin county is hereby authorized and
empowered, at its discretion, to erect and maintain toll gates on such
ads in the aforesaid county as the said board may have heretofore
srmanently improved or may hereafter permanently improve, charg-
ig thereon such toll as the aforesaid board may deem advisable and
‘oper, with the right to grant rebates on tollage to any persons,
ho may have paid anything out of their private funds towards the
ynstruction of any such roads; provided, however, that no toll gate
iall be erected on any road within five miles of the corporate limits
t the town of Rocky Mount, nor on any roads included in the State
ghway system, and provided, further, that no toll gates shall be
tablished on the roads of any district in said county unless the
ipervisor of the particular district shall vote in favor of the estab-
shment of such toll gate. All receipts derived from the toll gates
tablished ,under this act shall, except to the extent above provided,
mstitute a fund for the maintenance of the road on which the gates
re established.
