CHAP. 64.—An ACT for the protection of certain fish in the waters of
Back bay, Fresh pond and Salt pond in the county of Princess Anne;
and to prescribe a time and method for taking and selling in same.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shal] not be unlawful to catch with nets and sell black bass
(commonly called southern chub) in the waters of Back bay,
fresh pond and salt pond, in the county of Princess Anne, from
the twenty-fifth day of October to the thirty-first day of March
of each year.
2. No person, firm or corporation shall sell, keep or store for
sale, have in possession for sale or offer or expose for sale any
such black bass as are mentioned in this act from the twenty-
fifth day of October to the thirty-first day of March of each year
unless and until there shall have been first obtained from the
department of game and inland fisheries a permit in writing for
such purpose, and the said department is hereby given authority
to prescribe rules and regulations concerning the handling of any
such black bass between the dates aforesaid. Any person, firm
or corporation violating this paragraph of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor.
3. The fishing season beginning on the twenty-fifth day of
October, thereby creating an emergency, this act shall be in force
from its passage.
4. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are
hereby repealed.
