CHAP. 58.—An ACT to appropriate the sum of $9,545.58 for the gah
of venereal diseases in the State of Virginia. (H B 39]
Approved September 9, 1919.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sum of nine thousand, five hundred and forty-five dollars
and fifty-eight cents be, and the same is hereby, appropriated,
out of any funds in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for
the control and treatment of syphilis, gonnorrhea, chancroid and
other diseases classed as venereal diseases; for the education of
the people of the State in the prevention and care of these dis-
eases, and for the apprehension, detention and treatment of per-
sons recognized and known to be promiscuous carriers of said
diseases.
2. That the said sum hereby appropriated shall be used to
complete the fund now in the treasurer’s hands to meet the fed-
eral fund of twenty-two thousand four hundred and fifteen dol-
lars and fifty-eight cents, which fund is available to the State
of Virginia only in the event that a like sum be appropriated or
specifically set aside for this purpose by the State for the federal
fiscal year of nineteen hundred and twenty, which ends June
thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty; the funds shall be dis-
bursed by the treasurer of the State only upon warrants issued
by the auditor of public accounts, on vouchers signed and ap-
proved by the State health commissioner and the director of the
division of venereal diseases.
