Chap. 53.—An ACT to authorize the council of the town of New Market
in Shenandoah county, to levy a tax on all dogs kept in said town.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, Tha
the council of the town of New Market, in Shenandoah county
be, and they are, hereby authorized to levy a tax on all owner:
of dogs in the said town, the tax on male dogs shall not exceec
fifty cents per head, and the tax on female dogs shall not exceec
the sum of one dollar.
The said council is authorized and empowered to pass sucl
ordinances as may be necessary to carry this act into effect.
