Chap. 56.—An ACT to validate, ratify, approve and confirm certain bonds
hereafter to be issued, and the election held on December 12, 1916, author-
izing the issuance of such bonds by Alexandria county for Washington
magisterial district for the purpose of macadamizing and otherwise per-
manently improving public roads and bridges in said magisterial district.

Whereas at an election held on Tuesday, December twelve, nine-
teen hundred and sixteen, in Washington magisterial district, of
Alexandria county, a majority of the qualified voters of said dis-
trict voting on the question of issuing bonds for the purpose of ma-
cadamizing or otherwise permanent! Improving public roads and
bridges of said magisterial district, voted in favor of the same and
authorized the issuance of bonds to an amount not exceeding one
hundred twenty-two thousand, one hundred thirty-seven and four-
teen-one hundredth dollars;
And whereas the validity of the suid bonds has been questioned
by the prospective purohasers thereof by reason of the fact that the
qualified voters of the entire county did not vote on the question of
issuing the same;
And whereas it is the desire of the board of supervisors of said
county to issue and sell the said bonds;
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
said election held in Washington magisterial district of Alexandria
county on the twelfth day of December, nineteen hundred and six-
teen, be and the same is hereby validated, ratified, approved and
confirmed, notwithstanding any defect or irregularity in the calling
or holding of said election and notwithstanding the fact that the
qualified voters of other magisterial districts in the said county did
not vote at the said election and the said one hundred twenty-two
thousand, one hundred thirty-seven and fourteen-one hundredth
dollars of bonds authorized by said election for Washington magis-
terial district of Alexandria county to be hereafter issued, be, and
the same are hereby validated, ratified, approved and confirmed,
and the said bonds are hereby declared to be the valid and binding
obligations of the said county of Alexandria.
9. An emergency existing in that the county of Alexandria is
in urgent need of funds to be derived from the sale of said bonds
for the purpose of improving public roads and bridges in said mag-
isterial district this act shall be in force from its passage.
