Chap. 378.—An ACT to encourage the production of food fish. [S B 375]
Approved March 16, 1918.
Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That thie
commissioner of fisheries be, and it is hereby, authorized and di-
rected to co-operate with the Federal food administration in all
legal and proper ways in its efforts to encourage the production
of food fish, and, to that end, the governor of Virginia is em-
powered, if and when in his judgment it shall be wise and ex-
pedient to do so, to suspend by proclamation during the continuance
of the war or until the general assembly shall take action on the
subject, any restrictive provisions of the laws of Virginia as to
the manner and time of taking salt water fish in the waters of
the Commonwealth or waters within the jurisdiction of the Com-
inonwealth.
Owing to the importance of increasing the supply of food in
the country, an emergency is declared to exist, and this act shall
be in force from its passage.
