Chap. 370.—An ACT authorizing the boards of supervisors of the respective
counties of the Commonwealth to pay rewards out of county levies for
the capture of illicit stills and delivery of the same to the sheriff of the
county, and for the conviction of the person, or persons, guilty of oper-
ating the same, in the manufacture of ardent spirits. [S B 328]

Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
boards of supervisors of the respective counties of the Common-
wealth, be, and, the same are hereby, authorized to pay rewards out
of the county levies to any person, including officers, for the capture
of any illicit still and apparatus used in connection therewith in
operation at the time of such capture, in such county, or which has
recently theretofore been operated in said county, in the manu-
facture of ardent spirits, and delivery of the same to the sheriff
of the county, at the county seat, and for the conviction of the
person, or persons, guilty of unlawfully operating same; such
reward not to exceed the sum of fifty dollars in connection with
any one still, one-third of which reward shall be payable as soon
as the still and apparatus therewith are captured and delivered to
the sheriff as aforesaid and proof thereof duly made to the board
of supervisors of such county, and the remaining two-thirds thereof
shall be payable upon the conviction of the person, or persons,
guilty of operating the same.
