Chap. 336.—An ACT to regulate the operation of motor vehicles in the coun-
ties of Accomac and Northampton. [H B 447]
Approved March 16, 1918.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
t shall be unlawful for the owner of any automobile, locomobile
or other vehicle operated by motive power other than animal power
in the counties of Accomac and Northampton;
(a2) To permit any person under the age of twelve years ta
operate such vehicle;
(b) To fail or neglect, when passing a horse or vehicle going
in the opposite direction from himself, to keep to the extreme
right side of the road;
(c) To fail to have the light upon such vehicle placed so as tc
be free from obstruction to light from other parts of said vehicles
(d) To use upon said vehicle any acetylene, electric or othe!
headlight, unless the same be properly shaded or supplied with dis
ensive lenses or glass, with a mechanism or apparatus for turn
ing down the illuminating lights in such manner as not to blind o1
dazzle other users of the highway or make it difficult or unsafe
for public users to ride, drive or walk thereon; or
e) To direct the rays of lights known as spotlights upon ap
proaching vehicles upon such public highways in the said counties
2. This act shall not be construed to repeal any provision of any
law of this State in the relation to the running of motor vehicles
out the same shall continue in full force and effect in the said coun-
es.
8. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not
less than five nor more than twenty-five dollars for each offense.
