Chap. 334.—An ACT to empower and authorize the board of supervisors of
Lee county to employ an agent to make from the office of the register:
of the land office of Virginia, copies of surveys missing from the sur-
veyor’s records now on file in the clerk’s office of Lee county, and of old
surveys covering lands in Tee county, as now constituted, made before
the formation of said county, and to make copies so procured evidence
in any case involving the title to the lands covered by such surveys.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors for the county of Lee are hereby authorized and
empowered to employ an agent to make copies from the records
and files in the office of the register of the land office of Virginia
of all such original and missing surveys as may be necessary te
complete the records of surveys of lands in said county.
9. That the register of the land office be, and he is hereby au-
thorized and directed to permit such agent to examine the record:
of his office and make therefrom copies of all such missing sur-
veys and shal] not charge such county or agent any fees for so
doing.
3. In making said copies, the agent so employed shall make
the copies herefnbefore referred to at such time and in such man-
ner as to interfere as little as possible with the work of the reg-
ister.
4, The said board of supervisors of the county of Lee are here-
by authorized and empowered to pay the agent so employed by
hem reasonable compensation for his services for making and pro-
uring copies of the surveys herein referred to.
5. By reason of the fact that it is the purpose of said board of
upervisors to have these copies made as soon as practicable, an
mergency exists and this act shall be in force from its passage.
