Chap. 175.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act to incor-
porate the town of Crewe, in Nottoway county, Virginia, approved March
20, 1916. [H B 312]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion ninety-one of article two of an act entitled an act to incorpo-
rate the town of Crewe, approved March twentieth, nineteen hun-
dred and sixteen, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 91. All moneys received on special assessments shall be
held as special fund, to be applied to the payment of the matter for
which the assessment was made, and said money shall be used for
no other purpose whatsoever; provided the said fund may be used
for other purposes if so determined by a majority vote of the quali-
fied voters of said town voting in any election on said question and
whenever two-thirds of the members of the town council shall vote
for an election to determine if the said funds shall be applied to any
other matter than the one for which the assessment was made, which
vote shall be recorded on the minutes of the town council, the said
council shall orde ran election to determine the said question and
thirty days’ notice of the time and place for holding the said elec
tion shall be given by posting notices in Crewe postoffice and in suck
other way as the town council may think best.
In the event of a majority of the qualified voters voting in saic
election are in favor of using any funds for other purposes thar
the purpose for which the assessment was made, the town counci
shall, at its next meeting after said election, enter an order to carry
out the wishes of the voters, as expressed at said élection.
2, An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
