Chap. 31.—An ACT to authorize and direct the board of supervisors of Essex
county to pay to the town of Tappahannock the amount of the road tax
assessed and collected for the year 1914, by the county of Essex, on the
real and personal property in said town. (H. B. 66)

Whereas, the charter of the town of Tappahannock, in Essex county
was amended by an act approved March twenty-seventh, nineteen hun-
dred and fourteen, entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act approved
February twelfth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, as amended by an
act approved March fifteenth, nineteen hundred and six, incorporating
the town of Tappahannock and conferring upon said town certain powers
of taxation, and,
Whereas, the road tax and other taxes levied on the property, real
and personal, within the corporate limits of said town for the year
nineteen hundred and fourteen, was paid to the treasurer of Essex
county.
Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board of
supervisors of Essex county be, and they are hereby, authorized and
directed to pay to the town of Tappahannock the amount of all taxes
for the year nineteen hundred and fourteen, assessed and collected for
road purposes on the property, real and personal, embraced within the
corporate limits of said town, the said amount to be ascertained by said
board of supervisors and paid by warrant drawn by the chairman of said
board of supervisors, payable to the treasurer of the town of
Tappahannock. ;
2. It being necessary that the operation of this act should be im-
mediately effective, an emergency is declared to exist and this act shall
be in force from its passage.
