Chap. 97.—An ACT to authorize the city of Norfolk to close the Cove street
canal from the west side of Hampton court to the east side of Arling-

Whereas, the Cove street canal, in the city of Norfolk, Virginia,
from the west side of Hampton court to the east side of Arlington
place, can no longer be used for the purpose of navigation and has
become insanitary; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the city council of the city of Norfolk is hereby authorized to close
said Cove street canal from the west side of Hampton court to the
east side of Arlington place, and all right, title and interest of the
State of Virginia in said part of said canal is hereby vested in the
city of Norfolk.
