Chap. 63.—An ACT to provide for a public park, or public playgrounds, in
the town of Waverly. (H. B. 434.)
Approved March 10, 1914.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the council of the town of Waverly, shall have the power to acquire
by purchase or condemnation, in the name of the said town, either
within or without the corporate limits of said town, not to exceed
fifty acres of land, which shall be used by said town as a public
park, or parks, or for public playgrounds.
2. The sums of money necessary to pay for lands purchased or
condemned for such public park, or playgrounds, and for preparing
and equipping the same from time to time, may be raised and pro-
vided by the council of said town as other taxes are raised and
levied, or by issue of temporary loan bonds of the said town, which
said bonds may be secured by a deed of trust to be executed on
said property on behalf of the town by the mayor of said town.
3. The council of said town having already bargained to pur-
chase land for a public park, an emergency is declared to exist, and
this act shall be in force from its passage.
