Chap. 206.—An Act to repeal an act entitled an act to establish a dispen-
sary for the sale of intoxicating liquors in Farmville magisterial district,
in Prince Edward county, Virginia, approved February 13, 1901; and
also to repeal an act for the establishment of a dispensary for the sale
of intoxicating liquors in Leigh magisterial district, at Meherrin, Prince
Edward county, Virginia, approved December 12, 1903; provided that
the qualified voters of Prince Edward county shall so elect. (H. B. 30.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act to establish a dispensarv for the sale of
intoxicating liquors in Farmville magisterial district, Prince
Edward county, Virginia. to prohibit all persons, firms, corpora-
tions to sell, barter, or exchange such liquors in said district. and
to repeal all laws in conflict with this act, so far as they apply to
said magisterial district, approved February thirteenth, nineteen
hundred and one, be, and the same is, hereby repealed; provided.
a majority of the qualified voters of the county of Prince Edward
shall so elect in the manner hereinafter prescribed.
And be it further enacted by the general assembly of Virginia.
That an act entitled an act to establish a dispensary for the sale
of intoxicating liquors in Leigh magisterial district. at Meherrin.
in Prince Edward county, Virginia, to prohibit all persons, firms.
corporations to sell, barter, or exchange such liquors in said
magisterial district, and to repeal all laws in conflict with this
act, so far as they apply to said magisterial district. anproved
December twelfth. nineteen hundred and three, be. and the same
is, hereby repealed; provided, a majority of the qualified veters of
the county of Prince Edward shall so elect in the manner
hereinafter prescribed.
2. There shall be held in Prince Edward county, Virginia.
within six months after the approval of this act, and upon such
day as shall be designated by the judge of the circuit court of said
county, an election for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not
this act shall become effective.
Thirty days’ notice of said election shall be posted at the several
voting places in said county. At such election each qualified voter
who desires this act to become effective shall deposit a ticket or
ballot, on which shall be printed or written the dispensaries
authorized by said acts of February tenth, nineteen hundred and
one, and December twelfth, nineteen hundred and three, establish-
ing the dispensaries at Farmville and Meherrin, respectively, shall
be continued or discontinued, the words “against dispensary law,”
and each voter who shall not desire this act to become effective
shall deposit a ticket or ballot on which shall be written or printed
the words “for dispensary law.”
The manner of receiving and canvassing the ballots and making
returns and abstracts thereof shall conform in all respects to the
requirements of the general election law, except that the certificate
of the judges shall be as follows:

The proper official canvassers of general election returns shall
canvass these returns in like manner as other elections.
3. Ifa majority of the qualified votes cast at said election
shall be against the dispensary laws, then all rights and privileges
conferred by the acts designated in section one of this law shall
forthwith cease (provided said dispensaries shall have sixty days
thereafter in which to dispose of their stock), and no license for
the sale of intoxicating liquors in any part of said county shall
be granted; but if a majority of the votes cast at said election shall
be for the dispensary law, then the acts designated in section one
shall continue in force.
