Chap. 141.—An ACT for the protection of foxes in the counties of Loudoun
and Fauquier, and to provide penalties for the violation of the provi-
sions of this act. (H. B. 314.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be unlawful for any person to poison, shoot at, trap, hunt
or kill any red or gray fox in the counties of Loudoun and Fauquier
between Anril first and September first following, in each year; pro-
vided, however, that this act shall not apply to any person who is
the owner or tenant of any land in said counties and who shall
poison, shoot at, trap, hunt or kill any such red or gray foxes on
lands owned or occupied by him as such tenant or owners, when such
foxes are actually doing harm on the property of such tenant or
owners.
And between September first and April first, it shall be unlawful
to shoot, trap, or poison, any red or gray fox except on written au-
thority from the land owners.
2. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this
act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof, shall be fined not less than ten dollars, nor more than
twenty-five dollars, one-half of which shall be paid to the informer
and the other half to the treasurer of the county to go into the road
fund of the district in such county wherein said violation occurs.
