Chap. 133.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections 3 and 8 of an act ap-
prov d March 28, 1902, entitled an act to promote the public health and
to regulate the sanitary constructior, house draining, and plumbing
and to secure the registration of plumbers in all cities within the State
of Virginia having a population of 8.009 inhabitants, and to provide for
a board of examination of plumbers therein, and defining their duties
and powers, provide for their comnensation, and to provide for penalties
for the violation of this act, and to repeal all laws inconsistent with
the provisions of this act. (S. B. 223.)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section three and eight of chapter three hundred and forty-eight of
the acts of assembly, approved March the twenty-eighth, nineteen
hundred and two, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows:
' Sec. 8. The said board shall have power, and it shall be its
duty, to adopt rules and regulations not inconsistent with the laws
of the State or the ordinances of the city for the sanitary construc-
tion, alteration, and inspection of plumbing and sewerage connec-
tions and drain placed in or in connection with any and every
building in such city, in which it will prescribe the kind and size of
the material to be used in such plumbing, and the manner in which
the work shall be done; provided that all cities shall have the right
to employ licensed plumbers to construct sewer connections from
ite propery line to the main sewer. The words house draining and
plumbing as used in this act, shall be construed to mean all plumb-
ing, house draining, sewers and ventilation of sewers, placed in or
in connection with any and every building in such city from the
curb line in and beyond and through the roof of said building.
Sec. 8. It shall be unlawful for any person to do any plumbing
(or house draining) in such city of this State unless he be licensed
aus herein provided.
