CHAP. 83.—An ACT to provide that the status of a bank as a State deposi-
tory shall not be affected by a change of the name or merger of such
bank with another bank, or because it shall be converted into a national
bank.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the amendment of the charter of any bank, designated by law
as a State depository, so as to change its name; or the merger
of such bank with another bank; or the conversion of such
bank into a national bank, shall not affect the status of such
bank as a State depository, but the funds of the State shall
continue to be deposited therein just as if such change, merger
or conversion had not occurred: provided, such bank shall give
a new bond in the penalty and form, and subject to all of the
conditions prescribed by law in the case of bonds of State de-
positories.
2. An emergency is declared to exist, and this act shall be
in force from its passage.
