CHAP. 27.—An ACT prohibiting the direction of verdicts; to what cases
applicable.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in no action tried before a jury shall the trial judge give to the
jury a peremptory instruction directing what verdict the jury
shall render. This act shall apply to pending actions as well as
to those hereafter instituted.
