CHAP. 255.—An ACT to authorize the cities of Newport News and Hamp-
ton, and the counties of Warwick and Elizabeth City, to appropriate
money and to issue bonds for drainage of any lands lying in the coun-
ties of Warwick or Elizabeth City.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the city of Newport News, county of Warwick, county of Eliza-
beth City, and the city of Hampton be, and the same are hereby,
authorized, jointly or severally, to appropriate such sums of
money as in the judgment of the councils of the said cities or the
board of supervisors of the said counties deem wise for the
purpose of draining any lands lying in the counties of Warwick
and Elizabeth City, either or both; and the said counties and
cities, through their board of supervisors and councils, shall have
authority to contract for the said drainage and to issue bonds
therefor in the same manner as the cities and counties are now
by law authorized to issue bonds for any other purpose.
