Chap. 25.—An ACT to provide reasonable compensation for the boards of
road commissioners of the respective magisterial districts of Meck-
lenburg county, Virginia, out of the proceeds of the sale of bonds
issued by said county, for their services in directing or supervising
the expenditure of the fund thus provided for permanent road or bridge
improvement in their respective magisterial districts.

Whereas, the county of Mecklenburg, in the State of Vir-
ginia, has recently, or is about to issue bonds to the amount of
two hundred and forty thousand dollars ($240,000.00) for road
improvement and bridge construction in the magisterial districts
of said county, known as Boydton district, South Hill district,
Palmer Springs district, Buckhorn district and LaCross district,
the proceeds therefrom to be used for permanent road improve-
ment and bridge construction in said districts; and
Whereas, the circuit court of said county entered at its June
term, nineteen hundred and eleven, five orders directing the
issuance of said bonds as recorded on pages one hundred and
nineteen, one hundred and twenty and one hundred and twenty-
one, number three, of the record of the board of supervisors of
said county; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the boards of road commissioners of the
respective magisterial districts of Mecklenburg county, Virginia,
to receive reasonable compensation, not to exceed, however, the
sum of three hundred dollars, during any twelve months’ time
for each of said boards, and ratably for a less period than twelve
months during the time said boards may be engaged respectively
in the direction or superintendence of the expenditure for per-
manent road or bridge improvement in their respective magis-
terial districts aforesaid, out of the proceeds of the sale of bonds
voted by said county and districts respectively, and issued by
said county for said districts respectively, under the provisions
of an act of the general assembly of Virginia, entitled ‘‘an act to
provide for the issuing of county bonds for permanent road or
bridge improvement in the magisterial districts of the counties
of the State,” approved February twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred
and eight, and called chapter seventy ((70) in Acts of Assembly
of Virginia, nineteen hundred and eight. Said compensation to
be paid said boards respectively out of the proceeds of the sale
of the bonds issued as aforesaid for their magisterial districts
respectively.
2. An emergency existing therefor, because of the nearness
of time for the work on said roads to commence, this act shall
become effective and be in force from its passage.
