Chap. 184.—An ACT to amend section thirty-seven of an act approved
January cleventh, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, entitled an act
to amend and re-enact the charter of the town of Culpeper, Vir-
ginia, as further amended by an act approved March the third, nine-
teen hundred and _ six.

1. Re it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section thirty-seven of an act approved January the eleventh,
eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, entitled an act to amend and
re-enact the charter of the town of Culpeper, as further amended
by an act approved March the third, nineteen hundred and six,
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$37. The said town and the taxable persons and property
therein shall be exempt and free from the payment of any poor
‘ates or road tax for any year in which it shall appear that said
town shall, at its own expense, provide for its own poor and
keep its streets in order; provided, however, that there shall be
no exemption from taxes on the taxable persons and property
therein, when the said tax is for the purpose of paying the prin-
cipal and interest on bonds issued for the purpose of macadamiz-
ing the roads in Catalpa magisterial district, of Culpeper county,
when the public streets of the town of Culpeper are included as a
part and parcel of said roads, according to specifications fur-
nished by said town.
2. An emergency existing this act shall be in force from
and after itS passage.
