Chap. 171.—An ACT to authorize and empower the present clerk of
Goochland county to copy and transmit to the treasurer of said county
lists of lands delinquent for taxes for certain years which the previous
clerk of said county failed to transmit to the treasurer of said county
as required by law, and to authorize the treasurer of said county to
make sale of such lands, and to authorize the judge of the circuit
court of said county to allow said clerk of the circuit court of Gooch-
land county suitable compensation for making lists aforesaid.

Whereas, it appears from the records of the office of the
county clerk of Goochland county, that there has been no sale
of lands delinquent for the non-payment of taxes thereon for
the years nineteen hundred and six, nineteen hundred and
seven, nineteen hundred and eight, nineteen hundred and nine,
and nineteen hundred and ten because of the failure of the
clerk to certify to the treasurer the list required by law to be
so certified to him by M. T. Monteiro, the former clerk of said
county, which said lists of lands so delinquent are now in the
office of the county clerk of Goochland county, by reason where-
of the county of Goochland and the commonwealth are threaten-
ed with a loss of such delinquent taxes and levies: therefore,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the present clerk of Goochland county is hereby authorized,
empowered, and directed, as soon as may be, to copy and trans-
mit to the treasurer of Goochland county, copies of said lists
of lands delinquent for the non-payment of said taxes and county
levies for the years aforesaid, and the said treasurer is directed,
upon the receipt of the said lists, to advertise the property men-
tioned, for a period of thirty days, by hand bills posted at each
voting precinct in Goochland county, in which said hand bills
shall be set out a list of all property to be sold by him and the
amounts for which it is to be sold, and which shall state the time
and place at which said land is to be sold, said land being here-
by directed to be sold by said treasurer at the front door of
the courthouse.

And be it further enacted, that after the sale aforesaid. all
the other proceeding’s in connection with the sale of said land,
such as confirming the sales thereof and the execution of deeds
to purchasers, shall be governed by the general law of this
State in relation thereto. -

And be it further enacted, that the judge of the circuit court
is hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to allow to Peter
G. Miller, the clerk of the circuit court of Goochland county,
such compensation as is proper for making out the lists afore-
said, and to certify said allowances to the board of supervisors
of Goochland county, who shall pay the same.
