Chap. 96.—An ACT authorizing and empowering the several cities of this
Commonwealth to condemn property and conferring the power of eminent
domain for the purpose of acquiring water sheds for the several cities and
the necessary lands for laying water pipes, etc.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the several
‘ities of this Commonwealth be, and they are hereby, authorized ‘and
‘mpowered to condemn such lands or rights as may be necessary for pro-
‘iding water sheds for use of said cities and for the necessary lands or
ights for laying water pipes from same: provided, that such condemna-
ion shall be done in the mode prescribed by law for the condemnation of
and by water companies.
