Chap. 155.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 848 of the Code, as
amended and re-enacted by an act approved February 13, 1901 (extra ses-
sion), in relation to the compensation of supervisors.
Approved March 12, 1906.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
eight hundred and forty-eight of the Code as amended and re-enacted by
an act approved February thirteenth, nineteen hundred and one (extra
session), in relation to the compensation of supervisors, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$848. Compensation of supervisors—Each member of the board of
supervisors shall be allowed and paid out of the county levy a compensa-

tion for his services in attending the mecting of the board at a rate of
three dollars per diem for the time he shall actually attend, and five cents
for each mile of travel in going to and returning from the place of meet-
ing; but no per diem allowance shall be made for any time occupied in
travelling where mileage is allowed therefor: provided, that but one
mileage shall be allowed for any one term of meeting of such board: and
no supervisor shall be allowed to draw pay for more than twenty days
attendance in any one year, except in the counties where the population
exceeds five thousand, where no supervisor shall be allowed to draw pay
for more than twenty days in any one year: provided, further, that the
supervisors of the counties having a population of thirty thousand and
over shall not be allowed to draw pay for more than thirty days in any
one vear.
