Chap. 75.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections 2434 and 2618 of the Code of
Virginia.
Approved March 7, 1904.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sections
twenty-four hundred and thirty-four and twenty-six hundred and eigh-
teen of the Code of Virginia be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows :
§ 2434. If there be an infant or insane defendant, to every such a
guardian ad litem shall be appointed, who, as well as the infant (if over
fourteen years of age), shall answer the bill on oath, in proper person.
But if such infant over fourteen vears of age shall be beyond the limits
of the Commonwealth of Virginia, or is insane, or confined in any re-
formatory or prison, no answer shall be required from him in proper
person. ,
—-§ 2618. To every infant or insane defendant there shall be appointed
a guardian ad litem, who, as well as the infant (if over fourteen years
of age), shall answer the bill on oath in proper person. But if such
infant over fourteen years of age shall be bevond the hmits of the Com-
monwealth of Virginia, or is insane or confined in any reformatory or
prison, no answer shall be required from him in proper person.
2. This act shall be in force on and after July first, ninetcen hundred
and four.
