Chap. 44.—An ACT to authorize the Brookland school district, of Henrico county,
to borrow $5,000 and issue bonds therefor, to be used for paying for a school-
hause at Dumbarton, in said county, and to do other building, and to provide
for the payment thereof. :

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Brookland
school district, of Henrico county, be, and the same is hereby, authorized
to borrow a sum of money mot exceeding five thousand dollars for the
purpose of paying for the erection of a school building at Dumbarton,
in said district, and to issue bonds therefor, payable out of the school
funds of said district.
2. The said board shall issue its bond or bonds for the money bor-
rowed, payable at such time or times as may be agreed upon, not exceed-
ing ten years after their issue, bearing interest not exceeding the legal
rate. Such bond or bonds shall be signed by the chairman and attested
by the clerk of the said board, and shall be countersigned by the chair-
man of the board of supervisors of said county, and sealed with the county
seal, attested by the county clerk.
3. Until the bonds are paid there shall be set aside annually, for a sink-
ing fund, such sums as will be sufficient to pay the debt hereby authorized
as it matures. Such sinking fund shall be invested in the bonds hereby
authorized, or im such other securities as the said district school board
may, with the approval of the division superintendent of schools for
said county, select
4, The said board shall annually report to the board of supervisors of
said county the amount of the debt outstanding and the amount and con-
dition of the sinking fund. |
5. The said building having been erected, and there being no funds
in the hands of said Brookland district to pay for the same, an emer-
gency exists, and therefore this act shall be in force from its passage.
