Chap. 30.—An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Roa-
noke county and the council of the town of Salem to appropriate and contribute
money for the purpose of aiding in the erection of a monument to the Confed-
erate soldiers of said county.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, ‘That the board
of supervisors of Roanoke county and the council of the town of Salem
be, and are hereby, authorized and empowered to appropriate and con-
tribute out of the funds of said county and town a sum of money, not
exceeding five hundred dollars, for the purpose of aiding in the con-
struction of a monument to the Confederate soldiers of said county, to
be erected on the public square of said county, or at the county seat
thereof. Such appropriation may be made as a whole, or be made and
paid out by instalments, as the said-board and town council may deter-
mine.
