Chap. 28.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act approved April 4, 1893, entitled
an act to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Botetourt county
to appropriate and contribute money for the purpose of aiding in the erection
of a monument to the Confederate soldiers of said county.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the act
approved April fourth, nineteen hundred and three, entitled “an act to
authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Botetourt county to
appropriate and contribute money for the purpose of aiding in the erec-
tion of a monument to the Confederate soldiers of said county,” be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board
of supervisors of Botetourt county be, and it is hereby, authorized and
empowered to appropriate and contribute out of the county funds of
said county a sum of money not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars for
the purpose of aiding in the construction of a monument to the Con-
federate soldiers of said county, to be erected on the public square of
said county, or at the county seat thereof. Such appropriation may be
made as a whole, or may be made and paid out by instalments, as the said
poare may determine.
. It being important that prompt action shall be taken to secure the
ercotion of such a monument, an emergency has arisen for putting this
act into immediate effect, and it is declared to be an emergency act, and
shall take effect from its passage.
