Chap. 224.—An ACT to provide for the removal of the Houdon statue of Wash-
ington from the capitol to the library building, or to some other place.
Approved March 15, 1904.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That a com-
mission composed of the governor of Virginia, the treasurer, and the
register of the land office shall be constituted, whose duty it shall be to
have removed to the library building, or to some metal or fire-proof
structure, or other fire-proof receptacle within the limits of the capitol
square, the marble statue of George Washington, now in the rotunda, to
be there retained under charge of said commission, until otherwise
ordered by the general assembly.
2. That the sum of one thousand dollars, or so much thereof as is
necessary for the purpose of this act be, and is hereby, appropriated.
