Chap. 3.—An ACT to declare the true intent and meaning of the act en-
tided an act amending and re-enacting section 5 of chapter 157 of the
Cole, in relation to the Jurisdiction of the Corporation Court of tae
City of Norfolk, and creating the office of Judge of said Court.
Passed March 11, 1867.
Whereas a doubt has arisen as to the true constraction of
the act entitled an act amending and re-enacting section five
of chapter one hundred and fifty-seven of the Code of Vir-
ginia, in relation to the jurisdiction of the corporation court
of the city of Norfolk, and creating the office of judge of
said court:
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That according
to the true intent and meaning of said act, the court of the
corporation of the city of Nortolk, when held by the justices
thereof, has and shall have exclusive jurisdiction of the ap-
pointment of commissioners and conductors to superintend
elections, the organization and summoning of jurors, the
granting of licenses, the examination and approval of the
accounts of officers against the commonwealth, of the qualt-
fication of the clerk of the said court, of the sergeant and
constables of the said city, and of all other officers who are
required by law to make oath and give bond before the court
of said corporation.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
