Chap. 23.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the Gth section of an act
passed January 9, F866, entitled an act anthorizing the Trustees of the
Town of Manchester to construct a Bridge across Janes river, at
Richmond, Virginia,
Passed March 10, 1867.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the ninth
section of an act passed January ninth, eighteen hundred
and sixty-six, entitled an act authorizing the trustees of the
town of M: anchester to construct a bridge across James river,
at Ric hmond, be amended and _re- enacted so as to read as
follows
eS, “Said bridge, with the roads or streets leading thereto
or therefrom, shall not be more than eichty feet wide. Said
trustees are authorized to acquire by contract the land ne-
cessary for the purpose of said bridge and its proper appur-
tenances, and uo more; or they may : acquire the same by
condemnation, in pursuance of the provisions of chapter
sixty-six, Code of Virginia, (eighteen hundred and sixty), to
be pursued and adopted, as far as applicable and consistent
with the provisions of this act.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
