Chap. 116.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Bedford county to
contribute such an amount as it shall deem proper towards the erection of a
Confederate monument in the courthouse square of said county.

1. Be it enacted by the gencral assembly of Virginia, That the board
of supervisors of Bedford county be, and it is hereby, authorized and em-
powered to appropriate and contribute out of the county funds such a
cum of money as they may deem proper for the purpose of aiding in the
erection of a monument upon the public square of said county, at the
county seat, to the Confederate soldiers of said county ; such appropriation
may be made as a whole, or may be made and paid out by instalments,
as said board may determine: provided, that such monument shall, by
reason of such appropriation, become the property of said county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
