Law Body
Chap. 283.—An ACT releasing the Florence Crittenden home from taxes erro-
neously assessed.
Approved February 16, 1901.
Whereas the Florence Crittenden home, a charitable organization duly
chartered by the laws of the state of Virginia, owns certain improved
real estate in the city of Norfolk, Virginia, described as number two hun-
dred and three Chapel street, and said property is erroneously assessed
upon the land books of the commissioner of the revenue of the said city
of Norfolk for state and city taxes thereon, therefore creating a lien
against said property in favor of the state of Virginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the said
Florence Crittenden home be, and the same is, hereby relieved of any and
all state taxes assessed against its property described as number two hun-
dred and three Chapel street, in the city of Norfolk, since said property
came into possession of said home as fully as if said property had never
heen assessed ; and to that end the treasurer of said city and the commis-
sioner of the revenue of said city are hereby authorized and empowered
and instructed to do such acts and to take such steps as will fully carry
out the object of this act and relicve the said Florence Crittenden home
of all taxes assessed against it, such taxes being hereby declared null
ana void.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
