Chap. 203.—An ACT to amend the Ist section of chapter 115 of the Code
of Virginia, edition of 1860, and to repeal sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of
said chapter, in relation to Aliens. °
Passed February 16, 1867.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section first of chapter one hundred and fifteen of the Code
of Virginia, edition of eighteen hundred and sixty, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
“§ 1. Any alien, not an enemy, may acquire, by purchase
or descent, and hold real estate, in this state; and the same
shall be transmitted in the same manner as real estate held
by citizens.”
2. Be it further enacted, That sections two, three, four,
five, six and seven of chapter one hundred and fifteen of the
Code of Virginia, edition of eighteen hundred and sixty, are
hereby repealed. ,
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
