Passed February 13, 1867.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of the state of Vir.
ginia, That Alexander R. Holladay, Wm. A. Deitrick, Jacot
L. Deitrick, Thomas M. Deitrick, Chastain White, Samuel T.
Bailey, William J ames, Ayres, and such other persons
as may be hereafter associated with them, be and are hereby
created and incorporated and made a body politic and cor:
porate, under the name and style of The Tuckahoe Coal
Mining Company, of the counties of Goochland and Hen:
rico, for the purpose of mining for coal, iron and other ores.
and manufacturing the same, and transporting the same tc
market from the said counties of Goochland and Henrico.
and they are hereby invested with all the rights and privi
leges and powers conferred, and subject to all the provision:
and restrictions imposed on such bodies politic and corpo.
rate by the fifty-sixth and fifty-seventh onaplers of the Code
of Virginia.
2. Be it further ‘enacted, That the capital stock of said
company shall not be less ‘than fifty thousand dollars not
more than five hundred thousand dollars, to be divided intc
shares of fifty dollars each; and the said company shall have
authority to purchase and hold land not exceeding five thou
sand acres, at any one time, in the counties aforesaid, anc
may sell-and convey the same, or lease or encumber the same
and in general, to do and perform all acts and business o
the company aforesaid, which, as an incorporated company
by the laws of the state of Virginia they may do and per
form.
38. The said company shall have ten years from and alte
he passage of this act to organize under its provisions.
4. This act shall be in forcé from its passage, and shall be
subject to amendment, alteration or modification, at the plea
ure of the general assembly of the state of Virginia.
