Chap. 116.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sub-section 29 of section 7, chapter 6,
of the charter of the city of Lynchburg in reference to the consolidation of the
offices of the city engineer and city surveyor.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sub-section
twenty-nine of section seven of chapter six of the charter of the city of
Lynchburg (acts eighteen hundred and ninety-five and eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-six, page two hundred and nine) be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
1. To appoint a city engineer, a city survevor, and a citv electrician,
and to prescribe their respective powers and duties. terms of office, and
compensation; but, at the discretion of the council, the offices of engi-
neer and surveyor may be consolidated. The engineer may have such
assistants and clerks as the council may approve. — :
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
