Chap. 98,—An ACT to repeal section 8, and toamend and re-enact section
Gof chapter 85 of the Code of Virginia. so far as the Western Lunatic
Asvlum is concerned, so as to give to the Directors power to dispense
with the Ottice of Treasurer, and to direct the funds of said Asvlum to
be kept in one of the Banks at Staunton, or some other place of sate-
keeping, ‘
Passed December 18, 1865.
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the eighth
section of chapter eighty-five of the Code of Virginia (edi-
tion of eighteen hundred and sixty), so far as it relates to the
Western lunatic asylum at Staunton, be and the same is hereby
repealed,
2, Be it further enacted, That section nine of chapter
eighty-five of the Code of Virginia (edition of eighteen hun-
dred and sixty) be amended and re-enacted as follows:
“$9 The directors of the said Western luuatic asylum
may, in their diseretion, dispense with the office of treasurer
for such asylum; and after having done so, shall, upon the
receipt of money, whether by appropriation of the ceneral
assembly, or from any other source, immediately deposit the
same in one of the banks at Staunton, or some other safe
place, to their credit; and it shall not be lawful for the cashier
or other officer of said bank or depository to pay out said
money, so deposited, upon the order, dratt or check of the
said directors, except it be drawn and signed in such form as
shall be prescribed to said bank, or place of depository, by
the board of directors of said asylum; and the board shall
transmit to the auditor of public accounts, semiannually, a
report in detail of the manner in which such funds have been
disbursed.”
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
