Chap. 8.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the 21st section of chapter 36
of the Code (edition of Ts60),
Passed February 28, 1856.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the twenty-
first section of chapter thirty-six ef the Code (edition of
eighteen hundred and sixty) be amended and re-enacted so
as to read as follows:
“§21. The taxes assessed under the thirty-fifth chapter of
the Code, and any act amending and re-enacting the same,
and collected under this chapter, or any act amending it, shall
be paid into the treasury as follows: three-fourths of such
taxes shall be paid on or before the titteenth day of December
in the year in which the same may be assessed, and the re-
maining one-fourth thereof on or before the fifteenth day of
March next thereafter, save only as follows: A sheriff or col-
lector, the courthouse of whose county or corporation is more
than thirty miles from the seat of government, shall be al-
lowed, in addition, one day after the said fifteenth day of
December and fitteenth day of March, tor every thirty miles
distance therefrom. A sheriff or collector who may not have
qualified, or who may not have received the books of the
commissioner of the revenue before the tirst day of August,
shall be allowed five months from his qualitication, or the
delivery of said books to such sheriff or collector, to pay the
same into the treasury.”
2, The act entitled an act to amend and re-enact the
twenty-first section of chapter thirty-six of the Code of
eighteen hundred and sixty, passed January tweltth, eighteen
hundred and sixty-five, is hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
