Chap. 616.—An ACT for the relief of J. E. Allbrook, a wounded Confederate
soldier of Prince Edward county, Virginia.
Approved March 8, 1896.
Whereas J. E. Allbrook, a Confederate soldier of Prince Edward
county, was wounded in the battle of Cold Harbor June first, eighteen
undred and sixty-four, in such a manner as to totally disable him
or manual labor and he is technically denied benefit of an act to
rovide pensions for soldiers and sailors of Virginia wounded or
lisabled in war between the states; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and is hereby, directed to place the
ame of the said J. E. Allbrook on the pension rolls as entitled to a
ension of thirty dollars per annum as if he were entitled to sucha
yension by the general law to provide pensions for wounded soldiers,
ailors and marines of Virginia in war between the states: provided
bat he shall first get the certificate of the county court of Prince
“dward that he war so disabled, and that he is not ineligible by rea-
ion of property in his or wife’s name in excess of one thousand dol-
ars, or by being an office-holder with salary of three hundred dol-
ars per year, or by reason of receiving any other pension.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
