Chap. 32.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 13 of chapter 14 of
the Code (edition of 1&6), as amended and re-enacted by an act en-
titled an act to amend and re-enact the 18th and 14th seetions of chap-
ter 14 of the Code of Virginia (1860), passed 15th December 1865,
Passed March 2, 1866.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section thirteen of chapter fourteen of the Code of Virginia
(edition of eighteen hundred and sixty), as amended by an
act entitled an act to amend and re-enact the thirteenth and
fourteenth sections of chapter fourteen of the Code of Vir-
ginia (eighteen hundred and sixty), passed December fifteenth,
eighteen hundred and sixty-five, be amended and re-enacted
so as to read as follows:
“$13. The clerk of the senate, who is hereby required to
prepare an index to the Journal of the Senate, and the Docu-
ments printed by its order, shall reccive an annual salary of
eighteen hundred dollars. The clerk of the house of dele-
gates, who is hereby required to keep the rolls; to prepare
an index to the Journal of the House of Delegates, and the
Documents; to prepare tables of the places of holding sepa-
rate elections, and of the terms of the courts, as required by
the sixteenth chapter, shall receive an annual salary of two
thousand dollars. The further sum of forty-four dollars per
week, during the session of the legislature, shall be allowed
to the clerk of the senate, and the same sum to the clerk of
the house of delegates, to enable each of said clerks to em-
ploy one assistant: and for each alternate session of the gen-
eral assembly, the clerk of the senate and the clerk of the
house of delegates shall each receive the sum of eight dollars
per day during the session, in addition to the annual salary
allowed in this section: which said salaries, together with the
salaries of the oflicers mentioned in the succeeding section,
shall be at the rates hereby fixed, from the commencement of
the present session. Hereafter, at the expiration of each
session of the general assembly, it shall be the duty of the
clerk of the house of delegates to forward by mail, as soon
as practicable after the adjournment, to each senator and
delegate, five unbound copies of the acts and joint resolutions
passed at said session.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
