Chap. 292.—An ACT to incorporate the Friendship Fire Company of
Alexandria,
Paseed February 2S, 1866.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That James W.
Atkinson, G. 'T. Whittington, John Powell, Edward Clark-
son, R. H. Bayliss, W. Underwood, W. F. Creighton, and
such other persons as may hereafter be associated with them
shall be and they are hereby incorporated and made a body
politic and corporate, by the name and style of The Friend-
ship Fire Company of Alexandria; and may have power to
make by-laws tor the management of the atfhirs and for the
regulation and conduct of the members of the company, a
they may deem proper, not inconsistent with the laws of this
commonwealth.
2, The said company, in addition to the lot of ground, en-
gine house, fire apparatus, and so forth, now held by them,
may increase their capital stock not exceeding ten thousand
dollars: and for the purpose of raising said capital stock,
books of subscription may be opened, under the superinten-
dence of the above named persons, or a majority of them, at
such times and places as they may select, or at any time here-
after, by persons appointed by said company, as their by-laws
may direct.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage; subject to
repeal, alteration or amendment. at the pleasure of the gene-
ral assembly.
