Chap. 281.—An ACT authorizing John F. Burks and others to improve
New River.
Passed February: 26, 1886.
|. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That John F.
Burks, John R. Dunlap, James L. Burks and William B.
Mason, their heirs, executors. administrators and assigns,
shall have power and authority to open and improve New
river, for batteat navigation, trom the mouth of Reed island
creek, in Wythe county, to the Narrows, in Giles county,
with authority to extend the said improvement to the mouth
ot Greenbrier river, in Monroe county, whenever permission
be obtained from West Virginia tor that purpose; and all
the powers and privileges necessary to enable them to com-
plete the said improvement (not inconsistent with the general
provisions of the Code regulating such companies), is hereby
granted to them.
2. Be it turther enacted, That two years is allowed the
said parties within which to commence said improvement,
and ten years to complete the same.
3. And be it further enacted, That the general assembly
reserves to itself the right to amend or mouity the provisions
of this act, at its pleasure.
This act shall be in force from its passage.
