Chap. 278.—An ACT to incorporate the Hampten Steamboat Company.

1. Beit enacted by the gencral assembly, That Cyrus EL
Staples, John 8. Moody, and such other persons as may be
associated with them, shall be and are hereby incorporated
and made a body politic and corporate, under the name and
style of The Hampton Steamboat Company ; tor the purpose
of navigating the waters of the Chesapeake bay and its:
tributaries, by steamboats; and by Ahat name and style, are
hereby invested with all the rights, privileges and powers
conferred, and made subject to all the rules, regulations and
restrictions imposed by the Code of Virginia, applicable to
such a corporation.
2. The capital stock of said company shall not exceed one
hundred thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of one
hundred dollars each.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to alteration, amendment or repeal, at the pleasure of
the general assembly.
