Chap. 277.—An ACT to incorporate the Great Southern Inland Naviga-
tion Compas
Passed February 21, 1866.
1. Bait enacted by the general assembly, That Marshall
Parks, and such other persons as may be hereafter associated
with him, are hereby incorporated into a company, to be
known as The Great Sotithern Inland Navigation Company;
for the purpose of the transportation of freight and passen-
gers upon the waters of Virginia, North Carolina, and such
other places as they may desire.
Y. Be it further enacted, That the capital stock of said
company shall not be less than one hundred thousand dollars
or more than one million of dollars, in shares of one hundred
dollars each; and at all meetines of the stockholders, each
share shall be entitled to one vote.
3. De it further enacted, That the said company shall have
the right to purchase, hold and employ such steam and other
beats, land, wharves and warchouses as their business may
require ; and they are invested with all the rights, powers
and privileges conferred, and subject to all the rules, restric-
tions and reculations imposed on bodies politic and corporate
hy the Code of Vir einia, so far as the s same are applicable to,
and not inconsistent with this act.
+. Be it further enacted, That the affairs of the company
shall be managed by a president. vice-president and four di-
rectors, who shall have power to make such by-laws, rules
and reculations, not inconsistent with the laws of this state,
as they may deem proper for the government and manage-
ment of said company.
dD. This act shall. be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to alteration, amendment or repeal, at the pleasure of
the general assem)ly@
