Chap. 266.—An ACT incorporating the Virginia Porcelain and Earthen-
gvare Company in the County of Augusta.
Pussed December 18, 1865.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Alexan-
der H. H. Stuart, Gerard B. Stuart, Joseph R. Anderson,
Messieurs Hitchens and Brothers, Dr. John B. Lewis, Wil-
liam C. Lewis, Robert 8S. Archer, J. M.,Tanner, Dr. Robert
Archer, Martin Coyner, Dr. J. Hall, John J. Bell, William
Withrow, junior, David S. Bell, Dr. T. W. Shelton, H. M.
Bell, William B. Kayser, Davis A. Kayser, H. W. Fry and
William H. Farrar shall be and they are hereby incorporated
a’ bod v corporate and politic, under the name and style of
The Virginia Porcelain and Earthenware Company; for the
purpose ‘of mining kaolin and manufacturing porcelain, china
and other earthenware, and fine bricks, and such like articles,
and disposing of their products in market; and as such in-
corporation, shall have all the powers and privileges con-
ferred, and be subject to all restrictions imposed on corpo-
rations by the fifty-sixth and fifty-seventh chapters of the
Code of Virginia, so far as the same are not inconsistent with
this act.
2. That the eapital stock of the corporation shall be not
less than fifteen thousand nor excced two hundred and fifty
thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of one hundred
dollars each; and the said corporation may held land for
their purposes, not exceeding three thousand acres.
3. And whereas this company has been organized and com-
menced its s operations under color of an act of the legislature
assembled at Richmond on the twenty-second day of Janu-
ary, cighteen hundred and sixty-four—be it hereby enacted,
that all acts done by said company. in pursuance of said or-
ganization, not inconsistent with the provisions of this act,
be and they are hercby ratified and contirmed.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage, and be snb-
ject to modification at any time by the general assembly.
